In the summer of 2023, a new exciting, free public art trail will add colour to the streets, parks and public spaces of Newcastle and its surrounding areas– and you’re invited to join the fun! Shaun on the Tyne is presented by and raising funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
The charity has partnered with creative producers Wild in Art, Shaun the Sheep creator Aardman and Headline Partners Newcastle City Council to bring you a ewe-nique art adventure that the whole family can enjoy.
Following the success of Great North Snowdogs in 2016 and Elmer’s Great North Parade in 2019, St Oswald’s Hospice’s third art trail will celebrate the support shown by their community throughout the pandemic. From 19th July – 27th September 2023, Newcastle city centre and surrounding areas will be transformed by the arrival of 50 super-sized sculptures inspired by the much-loved star of film and television, Shaun the Sheep.
The Collingwood Shaun
Our very own Shaun, renamed Maximillian (Max for short), has a very summery blue and yellow look with students throughout the school getting involved by painting a flower directly onto the sheep or by copying their original design onto suitable paper and applying it to the design.
Our finished sheep, under several protective coats of varnish, will be on display in Newcastle before returning to Collingwood.
